About The Position

In Payments Security, we protect foundational systems and products that allow Amazon to accept payments for all goods, content and services that people buy at Amazon and around the world. We're building the next generation of security automation platforms that protect one of the world's largest payment ecosystems. Our focus is on the expansive ecosystem of Amazon Payments, which handles millions of transactions daily across numerous countries and payment methods. Over 100 million customers and merchants send tens of billions of dollars through our systems annually. As part of our team, you'll cater to a diverse range of customers, from Product Security engineers performing complex security reviews, to Payments builders looking for solutions that simplify the process of building and operating secure systems. Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, or 4+ years of computer science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis) experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Self-driven
• Ability to deliver high quality results
• Ability to develop plans and invent mechanisms that scale to meet the broad and diverse needs of teams across Amazon
• Strong customer obsession, working to deeply understand the needs of customers and relentlessly looking to improve their experience and make them more productive.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Experience with programming languages like Python, JavaScript, Go, .Net, Java or equivalent
• Experience in AWS cloud-native development, infrastructure as code
• Experience in security systems (identify & access management, threat detection, cryptography)

Responsibilities

• Designing, architecting, developing, testing, deploying and delivering scalable, multi-tiered software applications or services using modern languages, design patterns, frameworks and technologies.
• Working closely with security engineering teams to design and implement security features and multi-tier distributed services.
• Estimating engineering effort, planning implementation, and rolling out system changes that meet requirements for functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to development goals and principles.
• Effectively collaborating in a fast-paced organization with multiple teams.
• Building automation software and launching it for Amazon to protect against cyber security crimes.
• Contributing to design reviews, and prototyping new solutions.
• Writing code for new automation pipelines.
• Pairing with a Product Security engineer to understand a workflow being automated.
• Deploying a service that has been iterated on for the past few sprints.
