About The Position
Amazon Elastic Container Registry (Amazon ECR) is seeking a Software Development Engineer II (SDE) to contribute to the development and expansion of our container registry. ECR is a critical component for most containerized applications and workflows on AWS, requiring high performance, scalability, and security. As companies increasingly adopt containers for faster delivery, they rely on ECR for user-friendly tools and a growing ecosystem of SDLC and security features. The team is also addressing complex technical challenges, such as significantly reducing container launch times within AWS. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about building high-quality services, enhancing developer experience, and engaging with customers and developer relations. The team's mission is to establish containers as the primary compute primitive for modern applications, and this role offers an opportunity to influence how developers utilize containers at scale.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Nice To Haves
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Build and extend the Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR).
- Contribute to making containers the new compute primitives and the first choice when architecting modern applications.
- Define how developers use containers at scale.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months, working to ensure systems are fault-tolerant and resolving root causes of issues to prevent recurrence.
