About The Position

At Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we build the future of the cloud for Enterprises as a collaborative team of fellow creators and inventors. We act with the speed and attitude of a start-up, with the scale and customer-focus of the leading enterprise software company in the world. In this role, you will manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and operates tier 0 cloud services. Primary area of focus will be networking software such as VPN and Core routing infrastructure. As a director of the software engineering division, you will be the service owner for customer facing cloud services as well as virtual networking infrastructure components. You will apply your extensive knowledge of networking and distributed systems to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing distributed network services. You will apply your operational experience to operate tier 0 cloud services under strict SLOs. Interact with product teams to come up with product roadmaps and define the customer experience.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
  • 7+ years experience in people management. Preferably managing managers.
  • Demonstrable success mentoring and growing junior engineers to senior levels.
  • Demonstrable leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
  • Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
  • BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure is a strong plus.
  • Prior experience with either AWS, Azure or GCP is a plus.

  • Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
