Job Summary We are currently seeking a Software Developer. This position is a full-time opportunity located in the greater Washington, DC area. Battelle's Infrastructure Safety and Security (ISS) business is pursuing a high-profile support program for a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) client. The scope of this program includes a full spectrum of research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) support. As we prepare for this opportunity, we are actively recruiting highly qualified candidates for anticipated roles. The Software Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving computer and network software and specialized utilities based on user needs. This role applies computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to build and enhance software solutions, and may involve collaboration with hardware engineers to integrate systems and define performance specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in software development
  • Experience in software development and database design and maintenance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Secret level clearance with ability to obtain DHS Suitability

  • Experience providing assistance with program planning and oversight, exercise development and execution, and program evaluation
  • Experience with system-level analysis, system integration support, and understanding of threats and vulnerabilities

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and improving computer and network software, specialized utilities, and database systems based on user needs and mission requirements
  • Analyzing user and system requirements and applying computer science, engineering, and mathematical principles to build effective software solutions
  • Updating and enhancing existing software applications to improve performance, functionality, and user experience
  • Maintaining and developing databases within specific application areas, both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Collaborating with hardware engineers to integrate systems and define performance specifications where applicable
  • Supporting system-level analysis and integration efforts, including assessment of threats and vulnerabilities as they relate to software systems
  • Assisting with technical assessment and evaluation activities to complement government technical experts in applying acquisition efforts and RDT&E toward the DHS mission
  • Communicating technical findings and recommendations effectively in written and verbal formats to diverse stakeholders
