About The Position
SmartSkin Technologies provides manufacturing optimization solutions globally to the food, beverage & pharmaceutical sectors. SmartSkin serves the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies and all major beverage brands with its patented and award-winning Quantifeel™ sensor and software solutions. While most of our engineering and production activities are undertaken in New Brunswick, Canada, our global presence is increasing with team members located in major centers in North America and Europe. The Software Developer joins our development team at ground level, contributing to the full-stack platform that powers our SaaS product. This hands-on role spans Spring Boot APIs, React/Flutter frontend, PostgreSQL databases, and AWS infrastructure. You'll work alongside senior developers, building features, fixing bugs, and growing your cloud development skills in a production environment.
Requirements
- Full-Stack Development: Experience building web applications (any stack considered)
- Java or OOP Language: Foundational understanding of object-oriented programming with exposure to Java
- Frontend Basics: Exposure to React, TypeScript, or similar JavaScript frameworks
- SQL: Basic ability to write and understand queries
- Curiosity: Genuine interest in cloud platforms, distributed systems and continuous learning
Nice To Haves
- AWS fundamentals (any services)
- Spring Boot or any Java web framework
- PostgreSQL or Aurora experience
- Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Any exposure to containerization (Docker, ECS)
- Experience with git, Jira, BitBucket and Agile development concepts
- Experience building with coding agents.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain features across the full stack — Spring Boot APIs, React/TypeScript frontend, and PostgreSQL
- Write clean, tested code and participate in code reviews
- Work with DevOps to understand infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows
- Learn and apply cloud-native best practices, RESTful API patterns, and secure coding standards
- Debug and resolve issues across the stack with support from the team
- Leverage modern AI coding agents in your day to day work
