JOB SUMMARY: The Mortgage Software Developer is responsible for designing, coding, and maintaining the technical systems that power our lending operations. At AFC, this role isn't just about writing code; it’s about making the mortgage process faster, more secure, and more intuitive for both our internal teams and our borrowers. You will be at the heart of our mission to stay ahead of the competition by building custom tools and integrating industry-standard platforms.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in C# / .NET Core (common for mortgage platforms) or Python for automation scripts.
  • Experience with JavaScript (React or Angular) for borrower-facing interfaces.
  • Strong SQL skills for managing large-scale financial data and borrower records.
  • Hands-on experience with Byte or similar mortgage-specific software.
  • Solid understanding of data encryption and secure coding practices to protect sensitive borrower PII (Personally Identifiable Information).
  • Good working knowledge of system/internet security.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with JIRA and agile methodologies a plus
  • Mortgage industry knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integrations between our primary Loan Origination System (e.g., Encompass, Empower) and third-party APIs for credit reporting, appraisals, and title services.
  • Build and "code" automated workflows that reduce manual data entry for Loan Processors and Underwriters.
  • Program complex business rules into our software to ensure every loan automatically meets state and federal regulatory guidelines (CFPB, Fair Lending, etc.).
  • Maintain and enhance web-based portals for borrower applications and document uploads.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to ensure accurate data flow across our financial systems and reporting dashboards.
  • Participate in the proactive identification of product/systems enhancements which may improve tool appeal, process flow, and overall functionality and performance.
  • Design, development, testing, implementation and documentation of solutions that meet a specific Business need.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with firm knowledge of system design and analysis.
  • Effective time management and be able to float between multiple projects.
  • Great team attitude and able to work comfortably with technical staff as well as business and non technical individual.
