About The Position

Turing is seeking a Software Engineering evaluator to create datasets for training, benchmarking, and advancing large language models in collaboration with researchers. The work includes curating code examples, providing solutions, correcting code, and evaluating AI-generated code for efficiency, scalability, and reliability. You will also work with cross-functional teams on enterprise-level AI coding solutions, build agents and verification mechanisms to assess code quality, and evaluate model capabilities across the software engineering cycle, from prototyping and design through launch and operational maintenance. This is a flexible contractor engagement requiring at least 10 hours per week and up to 40 hours per week, with partial overlap with Pacific Time. The stated duration is one month, starting next week, with possible extensions based on performance and fit. Candidates must be based in the US, Canada, or the specified Western European countries: the UK, Netherlands, Italy, or Germany. The assessment process includes an AI video interview.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in building full-stack applications and deploying scalable, production-grade software using modern languages and tools.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design, development, debugging, and code quality and review assessment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for providing clear, structured evaluation rationales.
  • Ability to work at least 10 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week, with partial Pacific Time overlap.
  • Must be based in the US, Canada, the UK, Netherlands, Italy, or Germany.

Responsibilities

  • Curate code examples, build solutions, and correct code for AI model training initiatives.
  • Evaluate and refine AI-generated code to ensure efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve AI-driven coding solutions against industry performance benchmarks.
  • Build agents that verify code quality and identify error patterns.
  • Develop hypotheses about steps in the software engineering cycle and evaluate model capabilities across those steps.
  • Design mechanisms that automatically verify solutions to software engineering tasks.
