Software Developer, Entry to Junior
About The Position
The Software Developer is responsible for providing software engineering support to the Command and Control Processor (C2P) Modernization project at Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by leading development of new features using C++ in the areas system diagnostics, beyond line of sight (BLOS) tactical data links (S-TADIL-J/JREAP A), Link 16 Functional Input Message/Functional Output Message (FIM/FOM), User Interface and correcting software defects. This position will directly impact Naval War Fighter through enhanced tactical communications and battlefield awareness.
Requirements
- Foundational knowledge of C++
- Foundational knowledge of data structures and algorithms
- Foundational knowledge of version control systems
- Foundational knowledge of database technologies
- Foundational knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
- Foundational knowledge of testing procedures and debugging techniques
- Foundational knowledge of software security principles
- Basic knowledge of C++
- Basic knowledge of data structures and algorithms
- Basic knowledge of version control systems
- Basic knowledge of database technologies
- Basic knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
- Basic knowledge of testing procedures and debugging techniques
- Basic knowledge of software security principles
- U.S. Citizenship is Required
- Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score).

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with senior developers to understand project requirements and contribute to development efforts.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality.
- Debug and fix minor software issues.
- Learn and adapt to new technologies and programming languages as needed.
- Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of existing software systems.
- Participate in Agile methodologies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings and training sessions.
