About The Position

This part-time, flexible Hybrid position is designed for students in good standing with their university. The ideal candidate will be a senior, entering their senior year, or a master's degree student pursuing a degree in software development, computer science, data science, mathematics, or a related field. Seniors pursuing a bachelor's degree will also be considered. A professor's recommendation is required. Travel to Scott Air Force Base, IL is necessary. This position requires a U.S. Security Clearance, and only U.S. citizens eligible for such clearance should apply. The role involves research, development, deployment, and enhancement of enterprise-wide software solutions through hands-on coding, debugging, and contributing to software architecture and design for the government customer and Small Business Consulting Company (SBCC).

Requirements

• Pursuing a master's degree in software development, computer science, data science, mathematics, or a field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
• OR Rising Senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in software development, computer science, data science, mathematics, or a field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
• Lives in or is within commutable distance to Scott AFB, IL.
• United States Citizen.
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance.
• Thorough credit and criminal history checks will be conducted on all applicants.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of languages such as R, Python, SQL, and JavaScript.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on software development projects supporting operational systems and analytics platforms.
• Write, test, and maintain code using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Participate in the design and implementation of databases and APIs.
• Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing software applications.
• Contribute to documentation, reporting, and presentations for stakeholders.
• Work independently and as part of a team to solve technical challenges.
• Learn and apply new technologies and development practices.
• Occasionally provide administrative support related to project documentation and coordination.
