About The Position

Crown Equipment Corporation is seeking a Software Developer to join their team. This role involves designing, coding, modifying, and debugging software applications, participating in code reviews, and mentoring other developers. The position requires performing system analysis to ensure changes do not negatively impact other applications and assisting in the design and development of software aligned with the company's strategic direction. Responsibilities also include writing automated tests, maintaining manual test procedures, diagnosing software issues, and ensuring thorough testing before release. The developer will prepare documentation, provide training and knowledge transfer, and stay informed about advancements in software development. Additionally, the role involves assisting with project estimation, monitoring progress, and collaborating with the design team to convert design intent into code through iterative development and usability testing. Contribution to documentation, including internal presentations and technical specifications, is also expected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-4 years related experience
  • Indefinite US Work Authorization Required
  • Occasional travel (0-5%)
  • Occasional overnight stays (0-5%)
  • Employee must drive a personal vehicle to conduct company business < 20% per week (8 hours) and/or travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday.
  • Per 8-hour shift. Sit 8 hours and stand 0 hours.
  • Typical office environment (low noise level, limited exposure hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, and vibrations).
  • Regular interaction with others and performs a degree of independent work.
  • Physical and mental demands are akin to the majority of office positions with prolonged periods of sitting and prolonged use of a computer/keyboard.
  • Infrequent lifting, walking and climbing stairs.
  • Occasional use of office equipment (copiers, printers, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • A college degree in computer science or similar technical field of study.
  • Good technical, problem-solving, written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional experience in one or more general purpose programming languages (Embedded)
  • Professional experience working with Agile, Lean, and/or Continuous Delivery approaches.
  • Professional experience mentoring and training less experienced personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, modify, and debug software applications.
  • Participate in the code review process, including mentoring other Software Developers.
  • Perform analysis of interacting software applications and/or systems to ensure changes do not negatively impact other software applications.
  • Assist in the design and development of software applications while working with senior staff members so that the software applications align with the strategic direction of the company.
  • Write automated tests for new or modified code while maintaining manual test procedures and assist with the diagnosis of problematic software applications.
  • Ensure changes are thoroughly tested before release in accordance with internal standards.
  • Prepare programming, system, and technical documentation in accordance with internal standards.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to other team members as required.
  • Participate in maintaining and upholding documentation standards with other Software Developers.
  • Stay informed of advances and pertinent changes in software development and provide training and knowledge transfer to others.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Assist in estimation efforts, monitor progress compared to estimates, and provide notice to project leaders when deviation is observed.
  • Assist in the oversight of the technical design, software development process, and documentation activities.
  • Work closely with the design team to convert design intent into code.
  • Develop in an iterative fashion that accommodates review cycles and usability testing with multiple teams.
  • Contribute to documentation including internal presentations, instructional materials, and technical specification.
