About The Position
A software developer is being sought to support legacy modernization projects for a Java-based application using Rational Application Developer, with a primary focus on full-stack development. Responsibilities include: Assessing user requirements/stories and translating them into technical tasks and code. Developing features using: Rational Application Developer, Enterprise Java Beans (EJBs), Java Struts framework, HTML5, XML, JSON, JavaScript (jQuery, Bootstrap), browser-based debugging tools, Apache Ant, and SVN. Creating user access functionality, workflows, reporting, and dashboards within an existing application. Building database views for Tableau to support agency-wide business intelligence. Writing technical documentation and, when required, user documentation. Participating in an agile scrum team environment, including regular meetings, work sessions, and collaboration with business owners. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting completed work to stakeholders. All work will align with legacy modernization initiatives, including updates to workflows, business processes, and application functionality.
Requirements
- Software development on application projects (enhancements or new builds)
- Coding with: Rational Application Developer (or Eclipse-based IDE), EJBs, Java Struts, HTML5, XML, JSON, JavaScript (jQuery, Bootstrap), browser debugging tools, Apache Ant, SVN (or equivalent)
- Eliciting requirements, creating epics/user stories, and converting them into functional tasks
- Following requirements and user stories through delivery
- Testing applications to meet user requirements
- Writing technical documentation
- Using Microsoft Teams or similar collaboration tools
- Agile scrum team experience as a software developer
- Estimating and sizing sprint tasks
