About The Position

As a Software Development Engineer within McKesson Automated Prescription Solutions (MAPS) you will create, deploy, and support software for managing large, semi-automated pharmacies at sites across the US. You will be responsible for maintaining our legacy software in C++/MFC. This includes bug fixing and software enhancement, as well as issue analysis. Under limited supervision, Software Developers architect and develop major new features, enhance existing projects, and provide support for major customers. The Software Engineer might be assigned to troubleshoot difficult and complex support issues. A successful Software Developer in this role will understand a full software stack; from low-level control of robots and conveyor systems, through controllers and databases, up to UI and web services.

Requirements

  • Typically, requires 4+ years’ experience as a Windows software developer
  • System and Interface Knowledge
  • Strong experience in designing/writing high speed back-end code in Visual C++ and MFC, C# with ASP.NET and/or .NET Core, and MVC
  • Strong SQL, with Microsoft SQL Server and/or MariaDB/MySQL
  • RESTful API services
  • Expertise developing multi-threaded and distributed applications
  • Professional demeanor and communications suitable for direct customer interactions
  • Ability to work self-start work independently and collaborate as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with software tools and methodologies such as Git, Jenkins, TDD, and automated testing
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Service oriented architecture (SOA) and/or Micro Services architectures, a plus
  • Entity Framework (EF), Entity Framework Core (EF Core)
  • Service Monitoring, Performance tuning and testing tools
  • Web Technologies for UI (AngularJS, HTML5, React, etc)
  • Desktop application development experience using WPF, WCF, MVVM design pattern
  • Experience with hardware interfaces, including communication over sockets and serial interfaces
  • Comfort with basic Windows Workstation and Domain administration
  • Networking knowledge, including VPNs and firewall configuration
  • Experience with real-time controls/PLC systems and integration, especially Beckhoff
