About The Position

The Senior Software Developer is required to translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications. This includes developing detailed programming specifications, writing and/or generating code, compiling data-driven programs, and maintaining and conducting unit tests. The role also involves resolving and troubleshooting technical problems that arise during the use and operation of software packages, including providing technical assistance in implementation, conversion, and migrations.

Requirements

  • Experience in programming and analysis; specialized software package support at the specified experience level.

  • Experience in structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications.
  • Experience in design, code, test, debug and document applications.

  • Experience in application design, latest design patterns, deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with relational and hierarchical database technologies.
  • Experience in the use of information retrieval packages using query languages.
  • Experience with one or more communications protocols.
  • Experience eliciting and documenting information from diverse business area stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.

  • Proven ability to work with complex SQL queries, potentially hundreds or thousands of lines in length.
  • Proficiency with Power BI and DAX.
  • Demonstrated experience in Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Storage, ADF, Azure Analysis Service.
  • Experience with cloud platform like Azure and working knowledge for cloud migration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure data analytics tools, such as, Azure Data Factories, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse.
  • Demonstrated experience enabling and designing the Government of Ontario's clouds Azure, AWS, IBM, Oracle and Google clouds.
  • Experience with Cloud environments that are of the same scale as the Government of Ontario Cloud or BPS environments.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with customers/key stakeholders and using communication skills to resolve operational issues, negotiate or document process related intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Design and configure advanced security for existing and new cloud providers.
  • Assist with complex setup of public cloud providers, creating reusable patterns.
  • Assist in updating and creating provisioning pipelines for Government Cloud offerings by writing and maintaining a provisioning codebase for infrastructure delivery as well as data gathering/reporting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Azure/AWS/IBM/GCP/Oracle Cloud environments incidents and work with vendor partners.
