About The Position

Blue Sky Innovators (BSI) is seeking a Software Developer to support ground software development for a satellite program. This role will work alongside engineers, program managers, and government stakeholders to design, develop, test, and maintain mission-critical ground software supporting space systems.

Requirements

Active TS/SCI clearance with Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
Minimum 5 years of experience supporting flight software development
Proficiency in Python and related systems
Ability to work on-site full-time in Alexandria, VA
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering and program teams

Nice To Haves

Experience with satellite ground systems, spacecraft bus software, or mission operations software
Familiarity with software development in a classified/SCIF environment
Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, or Agile development practices
Prior DoD or IC space program experience

Responsibilities

Develop, test, and maintain ground software components in Python supporting satellite mission operations
Collaborate with systems engineers, program managers, and government customers to translate mission requirements into software solutions
Support the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, integration, test, and deployment
Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and verification/validation activities to ensure flight software reliability and mission assurance
Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and anomalies identified during development, integration, and on-orbit operations
Support technical documentation, including design documents, test plans, and software interface specifications
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support satellite program milestones, reviews, and delivery schedules
Adhere to applicable software development standards and mission assurance practices for space systems
