About The Position

State Street is seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our Investment Book of Records (IBOR) Development Team. We are looking for a motivated technology professional with strong COBOL development experience and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively with senior developers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to support and enhance critical business applications. The Investment Book of Records (IBOR) platform is a critical component of State Street's investment servicing ecosystem, supporting key business functions and client operations. As State Street continues its digital transformation journey, modernizing and enhancing core applications is essential to improving scalability, resiliency, operational efficiency, and time-to-market.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with COBOL application development and support.
  • Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
  • Ability to analyze complex business and technical requirements.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in software development and application support.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain in-house IBOR applications.
  • Support and enhance existing COBOL-based applications and business functionality.
  • Participate in application analysis, coding, testing, and implementation activities.
  • Work closely with senior developers and business analysts to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and production issues.
  • Perform code reviews and adhere to established development standards and best practices.
  • Participate in system integration, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Contribute to application performance improvements and operational stability initiatives.
  • Support Agile development processes and project delivery activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation and maintain development artifacts.
  • Ability to participate in production support activities as needed.
  • Ability to work with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.
