About The Position

Robinhood is building an elite team to apply frontier technologies to the world's biggest financial problems. The Software Platform team accelerates developer velocity and increases system reliability by building foundational platforms and tools. The Kubernetes Compute team specifically focuses on building and operating a highly available, scalable Kubernetes-powered container platform, ensuring seamless support for reliable application deployments, core platform capabilities, and multi-region scalability. This role involves building, maintaining, and scaling container provisioning platforms, writing code to improve infrastructure capabilities, and participating in the technical transition to Amazon EKS. Collaboration with other teams is key to ensure robust platform integrations for security and networking, directly improving system visibility, automation, and reliability. This role is based in Toronto, with a hybrid work model requiring at least 3 days per week in the office.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes core concepts, control plane components, and container environments.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining distributed systems or containerized infrastructure in a production setting.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure environments, preferably AWS ecosystems.
  • Basic knowledge of container networking, infrastructure security protocols, or open-source cloud-native tools.
  • Strong collaborative communication skills and a desire to solve technical challenges systematically.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable container infrastructure using Kubernetes to support high-throughput financial applications.
  • Support the technical implementation and testing needed to transition workloads safely to Amazon EKS.
  • Help optimize container lifecycle management and monitor cluster provisioning APIs for multi-region stability.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across Robinhood to integrate platform capabilities like service mesh, authentication, and load balancing.
  • Assist in identifying performance bottlenecks in production and write automation to enhance platform availability.
