About The Position

Leidos has a job opening beginning in the Spring of 2026 for a Software Developer/Engineer Intern/Co-Op in Reston, VA. Work will consist of a wide range of project tasks to include: web application design and development, securing application components including communications, multi-factor authentication, AI/LLM integration, automated testing, and static/dynamic code analysis supporting 3D modeling, simulation, and visualization. Tasks also include integration and interface development of various security products, integration and interface development of various analytic products, implementation and integration of commercial off-the-shelf products, knowledge management, and modernization of web-based user interfaces. Primary Responsibilities: Receive assignments in the form of objectives and establish goals to meet outlined objectives. Perform software analysis, design, development and test of specific requirements related to AI/ML, 3D modeling, simulation, visualization, and COTS integration. Determine system and software specifications and architecture to meet customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or directly related field.
  • The student must be willing/able to take a semester off to work through the Spring (January-June) or Fall (June-December) semester.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph Security clearance.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Willing and able to relocate to Reston, Virginia, if needed.
  • Knowledge of Python, JavaScript (Angular), and C++ application and microservice programming, integrating with database systems.
  • Experience with Virtual Machines.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, languages, technologies, set-up and configurations, trouble shooting, and system design.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Unreal engine, VS Code, Jira and GitLab.
  • Knowledge of web services, AI/LLMs, data simulation, security, cloud services, and communications.
  • Familiarity with software security requirements, information assurance policies and software testing technologies.
