About The Position

This client is a German multinational Pharmaceutical and biotechnology company and one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, headquartered in Leverkusen, and areas of business include pharmaceuticals; consumer healthcare products, agricultural chemicals, seeds and biotechnology products. We are seeking a motivated Software Developer with a focus on imaging technology to join our team supporting a seven-acre greenhouse operation. This role is critical to advancing our production capabilities through image-based analysis and automation system integration. In this position, you will design and implement image analysis solutions at multiple stages of the production process. You will work at the intersection of computer vision and industrial automation, extracting actionable insights from image data and integrating those outputs into real-time control systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with both traditional computer vision techniques and modern machine learning approaches, and can build robust pipelines that move data efficiently across enterprise networks.

Requirements

• BS or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (ABET-accredited preferred)
• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong Python development skills, particularly for image processing and analysis
• Experience with computer vision and machine learning frameworks (e.g., OpenCV, YOLO, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies
• Frontend development experience using modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue, React)
• Linux environment experience
• Experience interfacing with I/O devices for automation or machine control
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a prototyping or R&D environment
• Exposure to industrial automation systems or equipment
• Hands-on experience with deep learning/CNN-based image models
• Networking and firewall configuration experience

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy image analysis solutions to support greenhouse production workflows
• Apply classical computer vision and deep learning techniques to extract meaningful data from images
• Integrate imaging systems with automation and control systems (e.g., sensors, actuators, machine interfaces)
• Design and maintain pipelines to transmit image data and derived insights across enterprise networks
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including automation, infrastructure, and operations
