About The Position

Help modernize and scale the workflow platform behind Dayforce. We’re looking for a Software Developer II to join the Dayforce Platform Extensibility team and contribute to the evolution of one of the most critical systems in Dayforce: Workflow. Our mission is to build scalable, extensible platform capabilities that reduce duplication and enable teams to move faster. At the heart of what we build is the Dayforce Workflow platform — a scalable, rule-based workflow orchestration engine powering employee lifecycle processes across a multi-tenant SaaS platform used by millions globally. We’re evolving Workflow into a reusable platform service with extensible APIs that support workflow capabilities across multiple Dayforce domains. As part of that evolution, we’re also investing in AI-enabled orchestration and intelligent automation experiences integrated directly into the platform. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving backend and platform engineering challenges, building scalable systems, and growing their technical depth within large-scale enterprise software. This is a full-stack role with a strong backend focus, where much of the work involves distributed systems, backend services, APIs, scalability, and platform engineering.

Requirements

  • Experience building, experimenting with, or integrating AI-enabled applications, workflows, or developer tooling
  • Familiarity with modern AI frameworks, LLM-based tooling, or AI-assisted development workflows
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent to improve development productivity
  • Interest in applying AI as a practical force multiplier within modern software development
  • Experience building and maintaining applications using C#/.NET and modern backend development practices
  • Experience designing or contributing to backend services, APIs, or platform capabilities
  • Strong understanding of SQL Server fundamentals, query performance, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, scalable application design, and backend performance considerations
  • Comfortable working within larger interconnected codebases and contributing to mature enterprise systems
  • Familiarity with Azure and modern cloud development patterns
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
  • Solid problem-solving and debugging skills across backend systems and application services
  • Experience with modern development workflows, CI/CD practices, testing, and code reviews
  • Demonstrates ownership, continuous learning, and a willingness to grow technical expertise
  • Passion for writing clean, maintainable code and contributing positively to team engineering culture

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to core capabilities within the Dayforce Workflow platform and help deliver scalable workflow experiences across Dayforce
  • Design and build backend services, APIs, and platform capabilities that support reusable workflow orchestration across multiple business domains
  • Contribute to AI-enabled orchestration and intelligent automation initiatives, leveraging AI-assisted tooling and modern development workflows to improve engineering productivity
  • Improve the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of workflow systems, distributed services, and backend infrastructure
  • Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and platform modernization efforts across the team
  • Build clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while following modern engineering standards and development practices
  • Collaborate closely with teammates to troubleshoot issues, improve system quality, and continuously evolve the platform
