About The Position

Mujin is seeking a Software Developer for Robotics to design and implement cutting-edge algorithms for real-time motion planning, perception, and control of industrial robots and grippers. This role involves developing advanced robotics technology, including the design, implementation, and testing of algorithms that run on numerous robots in real time. You will test and deploy your work in simulation and the real world on various off-the-shelf and in-house robotics hardware. The specialization will be in gripper technology, focusing on modeling physics such as vacuum and airflow, seal quality, load balance, and hardware wear in production C++ and Python. The work includes real-time control against industrial IO and sensors, calibration and fault-diagnosis pipelines, bench experiments, and production data from customer sites. This role is ideal for someone passionate about robotics, automation, and pushing the boundaries of intelligent systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Physics or a related field.
  • Experience with Linux development environments and programming in C++ and python.
  • Expertise in 3D motion planning and robot kinematics.
  • Solid understanding of math and physics fundamentals related to robotics manipulation and gripper control.
  • Familiarity with industrial robot arms (Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB).

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience using Python and C++ for high-performance applications.
  • Expertise in robotic motion planning, grasp planning, and gripper control.
  • Experience with fluid mechanics and pneumatics, including vacuum generation and manifold pressure dynamics.
  • Ability to build and validate lumped-parameter dynamic models.
  • Comfort with probabilistic and statistical modeling of physical processes.
  • Experience with real-time systems and distributed architecture.
  • Experience with robotics, industrial automation, and warehouse systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test advanced robotics software for motion planning, kinematics, and real-time control of robot arms and grippers.
  • Design and run bench experiments on real gripper hardware to characterize behavior and validate models.
  • Design and maintain pipelines for gripper calibration and fault diagnosis.
  • Architect and optimize software systems for industrial automation environments.
  • Integrate Mujin’s “Teachless” technology with major industrial robot arms (Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB, etc.).
  • Write production-quality code that runs in real-time.
  • Deploy solutions in simulation and real-world environments at scale.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in deployed systems.
  • Other duties as assigned
