About The Position

Amentum is seeking Software Engineers to join their growing team in Dahlgren, Virginia, to support cutting-edge Naval programs, including the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) weapon system. This role involves solving complex Digital Engineering challenges and contributing to the Navy's mission of modernizing systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in SQL database development and experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or Java. Successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills, problem-solving aptitude, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Requirements

0–10 years of experience in software or database development.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another applicable technical field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to drive on and off base.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in SQL database development and familiarity with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Python.
Knowledge of Agile Development frameworks and methodologies.
Experience with software development tools such as Git and Jenkins.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support complex engineering tasks.
Background in mathematics or computational modeling is a plus.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement database solutions using SQL to support Naval projects.
Demonstrate proficiency in one or more programming languages, specifically C, C++, Java, or Python.
Support senior developers in the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including design, integration, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions.
Apply Agile development principles to ensure flexibility and adaptability in meeting changing project requirements.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and customers to deliver high-quality, mission-critical software solutions.
