About The Position

Join a high-impact engineering team as a Software Development Engineer II supporting foundational Amazon Business services. This onsite, 8-month contract role in Irving, TX (Dallas area) offers the chance to design and build robust, scalable back-end systems used by business customers worldwide. You’ll work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, leveraging AWS and C++ to solve complex technical challenges alongside engineers in the U.S. and Spain. We welcome relocation candidates and those with prior Amazon experience.

Requirements

3+ years of professional software development experience
Proven expertise in C++ and object-oriented programming
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and backend engineering
Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalable architectures
Demonstrated ability to design, build, and support large-scale, multi-tiered applications
Full software development lifecycle experience: coding, testing, code reviews, deployment, and support
Strong ownership mentality and ability to drive projects independently
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Former Amazon experience
Generative AI exposure
Experience supporting business-facing or enterprise-scale platforms

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deliver scalable backend solutions for distributed systems
Build and optimize large-scale applications using AWS cloud technologies
Implement and maintain high-quality, production-ready code throughout the SDLC
Collaborate with global engineering teams to solve technical challenges involving large volumes of data
Take ownership of projects, ensuring timely completion and high standards of code quality
Work closely with hiring managers and software engineers to meet business objectives
Proactively learn new technologies and contribute to continuous improvement
