About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Software Design Engineer to join their P-8 Mission Systems Software team in Kent, Washington. This role supports the Boeing Defense, Space and Security Services (BDS) Software Engineering organization, focusing on the P-8 Poseidon program, a key Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform. The position involves defining requirements, developing architecture and system-level designs, testing, and supporting system functionality. The team is expanding due to upcoming contract awards, offering a stable program for the foreseeable future. This role requires a leader passionate about aerospace, comfortable in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment, and experienced in the full software development life cycle (requirements, design, code, test). Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills are essential for engineering new solutions and supporting existing capabilities for multiple programs and customers.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, mathematics, data science, or computer science with 3 or more years of engineering work experience.
US Citizenship required
Ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance
Software Systems Architecture experience
Software Requirements writing experience
Interface design and control document experience

Responsibilities

Designs, develops, analyzes, and maintains software systems that meet industry, customer, and internal quality, safety, security and certification standards.
Partners with appropriate stakeholders to inform system definition and translate system-level requirements into software requirements and models that meet customer, operational needs, performance requirements and have clear traceability to design, code and test artifacts.
Completes software system-level analyses to identify risks, issues and opportunities; integrates and deploys mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle.
Performs code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standards.
Monitors and reviews test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution for software systems.
Develops user documentation and training to educate end users about usage of software products.
Reviews product and process for alignment with project plans and industry standards by tracking and evaluating internal team and supplier performance.
Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development.
Performs software project management and software supplier management activities.
