About The Position

We are Lockheed Martin. You will be a Software Design Engineer for the Integrated Maintenance Information System (IMIS) team. Our team is responsible for supporting the ground systems maintenance of the F-22 aircraft. IMIS hardware/software connects to the aircraft automating numerous processes to improve maintenance performance and reduce management, supervisory, and technical overhead. The F-22 IMIS applications reduce man-hours needed to service, troubleshoot, and repair the F-22 aircraft.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience using Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Experience with software design patterns, principles, and architectures (e.g., microservices, monolithic, event-driven)
  • Knowledge of system architecture and design principles
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, C#)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • MUST be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance.
  • This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with system modeling and simulation tools (e.g., UML, SysML, Cameo)
  • Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., relational, NoSQL, graph)
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Developing system level requirements for new software capabilities
  • Working with systems engineering to develop mid level and low level design
  • Exploring how to integrate new software tools into legacy code base
  • Creating systems engineering artifacts (architecture diagrams, system flows, design documents, etc.)
  • Coordinating development plans with systems, software, and test teams
  • Working the redesign and architecture of IMIS applications
  • Performing subsystem level requirements decomposition and traceability
  • Leading technical trade studies
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to make sure requirements are testable and verification documentation is available
  • Coordinating large scale development projects and setting project milestones
  • Collaborate with developers and engineers to implement designs, guide the development process, and ensuring compliance with requirements
