About The Position

We need an experienced Software Engineer at the Department of War’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO). SAPRO is the Department's single authority for preventing sexual assault and supporting survivors across the military, and its progress depends on accurate data about Service member experiences. This Software / Data Engineer role has a strong data-engineering focus. You will research, design, develop, and enhance computer and network software and specialized utility programs while building and maintaining the data pipelines, ETL workflows, automation, and database capabilities that support SAPRO's mission. The role requires hands-on experience with R and/or SQL for data manipulation, extraction, and transformation, as well as experience developing ETL pipelines using tools and languages such as Databricks, Python, and R. Requirements

Three (3) to ten (10) years of directly related experience
At least three (3) years of experience as a Data Engineer
High-level proficiency and professional experience using R and/or SQL for data manipulation, extraction, and transformation tasks
Experience developing and implementing data pipelines using ETL platforms and languages such as Databricks, Python, and/or R
Hands-on experience maintaining and optimizing data pipelines and automation efforts
Active Secret security clearance
U.S. citizenship is required

Responsibilities

Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs
Analyze user needs and develop software solutions using principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis
Update software and enhance existing software capabilities to meet evolving mission requirements
Develop and implement data pipelines using ETL platforms and languages such as Databricks, Python, and R
Use R and/or SQL for data manipulation, extraction, transformation, and analytical workflows
Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines and automation efforts
Support development of specifications and performance requirements in coordination with technical team members
Maintain databases within the application area, working independently or coordinating database development as part of a team
Collaborate across functional teams and communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
