About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Software Architect to focus on program CAS & FOSS (Commercially Available Software & Free Open-Source Software) and Dev Ops architecture. This role will collaborate with other architects to provide high-level design, process, and technical guidance to a team supporting development environments across a portfolio of Air Traffic Control programs, including the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) En-Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) system. ERAM is a critical component of the Next Generation (NextGen) Air Transportation System, facilitating the transition to a satellite-based air traffic management system. The position involves leading the conversion of legacy build processes to an Agile CI/CD pipeline, GitLab administration, managing the software license engineering review process, and maintaining the Software Architecture Document for program COTS/FOSS environments and configurations.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering with a minimum of 8+ years of prior relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience on a large-scale software development program in a software engineering leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated understanding of full software development life cycle.
  • Proven experience with supporting highly critical customer missions.
  • Understanding of SW configuration management tools and change tracking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to personal and corporate excellence, ethical behavior and integrity.
  • Planning and cost estimating experience.
  • Experience with execution under Waterfall and/or Agile development methodologies.
  • Experienced in GitLab administration.
  • Previous responsibility for a dev ops pipeline.
  • Experience refactoring a legacy build process into a CI/CD pipeline.
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with Sonar cube and a SW repository (e.g. Nexus, Artifactory).
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administration with SELinux.

Nice To Haves

  • Cost accounting / earned value management.
  • Familiarity with the National Air Space and FAA NextGen Air Traffic Control programs.
  • Background and development experience in ERAM Software Engineering, particularly Infrastructure and Support Software products.
  • Prior experience in ERAM SW process, ERAM SW architecture and business rhythms.
  • Understanding of OS, CAS, FOSS products and lifecycles, particularly LINUX OS.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Software Architecture Document (SWAD) for ERAM operational, support, and factory environments.
  • Ensure CAS/FOSS data records are up to date as the CAS SWAD owner.
  • Participate in SIG/PRED preparation and reviews impacting CAS/FOSS.
  • Consult with software teams on the design and implementation of solutions involving CAS/FOSS.
  • Manage the FOSS process and serve as the FOSS manager approver.
  • Manage the Non-Development Item (NDI) process and own NDI documentation.
  • Monitor CAS/FOSS licensing and coordinate with legal as needed.
  • Interact with other programs to share best practices regarding CAS/FOSS.
  • Monitor security and problem reports for system CAS/FOSS.
  • Determine if CAS/FOSS has any limitations regarding distribution to the FAA.
  • Actively participate in and guide others in refactoring a legacy build process into a dev ops pipeline.
  • Handle GitLab administration tasks.
