About The Position

Agile Space Industries is seeking a hands-on Software Architect to lead the vision, design, and execution of scalable enterprise platforms for capturing, streaming, and analyzing rocket engine hot-fire test data in real time. The role bridges low-level sensor streams and high-throughput cloud analytics, turning propulsion telemetry into actionable insights for next-generation orbital flight systems. It includes modernizing legacy platforms into microservices and serverless architectures, managing cloud deployments, and working directly with engineering leadership. The architect will own core system architecture and cloud infrastructure, lead integration between enterprise platforms and real-time or embedded data-acquisition systems, and collaborate with propulsion, test, and manufacturing teams. The role also balances development and operations responsibilities, including CI/CD optimization, incident response, performance monitoring, system profiling, automated testing, and observability. The architect will mentor engineers and guide technical decisions across the team.

Requirements

  • 15 or more years of progressive software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a Software Architect role.
  • Proven track record of full-lifecycle product development across diverse technology stacks, legacy systems, and modern cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience architecting and integrating AI/LLM capabilities into production enterprise workflows, including building and deploying features such as RAG, agents, classification, or extraction.
  • Experience integrating models with enterprise systems through APIs, orchestration tools, or data pipelines.
  • Experience owning architecture, evaluation, security and governance, and cost or performance trade-off decisions for AI/LLM implementations.
  • Expertise in modern programming languages such as Node.js, TypeScript, Next.js, C#.NET, C/C++, and Python.
  • Deep expertise with Azure or AWS, Docker, Git/GitHub/GitLab Pipelines, and Kubernetes.
  • Extensive experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and MongoDB.
  • Extensive experience designing and developing microservices, serverless architecture, RESTful APIs, OOP/OOAD, asynchronous messaging such as SNS/SQS/RabbitMQ, and SSO/IAM.
  • Proven ability to work as a high-leverage individual contributor and mentor.
  • Strong expertise in process improvement, branching and tagging strategies, build and release management, and developer ergonomics.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, including the ability to explain complex architectural trade-offs to leadership and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Prior experience with SaaS platforms or real-time storage and telemetry systems.
  • Experience bridging real-time or test systems with enterprise software.
  • Experience with real-time embedded systems.
  • Experience with LabVIEW or other high-rate data-acquisition systems.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and optimize enterprise-grade services and high-throughput backend APIs for analysis of high-rate rocket engine telemetry.
  • Design architectures that integrate enterprise and cloud platforms with real-time, embedded, and telemetry data-acquisition systems while meeting compliance requirements.
  • Design systems that allow legacy and modern components to work together to improve propulsion design, engine testing, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Own end-to-end cloud infrastructure design using Azure and/or AWS.
  • Drive Infrastructure as Code and containerization strategies using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Architect integration hubs and collaborate with propulsion teams to integrate technologies such as predictive embeddings and natural language processing into core workflows.
  • Build, repair, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to reduce deployment complexity and improve developer velocity.
  • Set up reproducible local development environments, such as docker-compose, and maintain standards for profiling, automated testing, and observability.
  • Serve as technical owner for core systems, balancing development and operations, incident response, and performance monitoring for software systems and rocket engine hot-fire testing.
  • Partner with test, manufacturing, and propulsion engineers to design operational systems for rocket engine and component design, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Mentor software engineers and guide their technical development.
