Software Architect

About The Position

At Zotec Partners, we are seeking a Software Architect to join our team. This role involves owning the technical direction of a large, long-lived enterprise platform and leading its evolution towards a simpler, more scalable, and more maintainable future. You will work across a blend of established and modern technologies, defining the target architecture, driving a pragmatic modernization strategy, and bringing a data-driven perspective to Zotec's investments in the platform and its teams. The position offers hands-on technical leadership across engineering teams in an entrepreneurial, collaborative environment. If you are ready to take the next step in your career and join an innovative, industry-shaping organization, you belong at Zotec Partners.

Requirements

  • A proven technical leader at the intersection of architecture, strategy, and hands-on engineering — energized by making large, long-lived systems scale and endure
  • Deep in enterprise .NET — architecting solutions in C# on .NET Framework and .NET Core, with strong command of integration patterns, service/API design, distributed-systems principles, and SQL Server, across large-scale on-prem and hybrid systems
  • 8+ years in software engineering, with at least 3 in an architecture or technical-leadership role
  • Adaptable across old and new — comfortable working across both established and modern systems, you use modern AI assistants to ramp quickly and accelerate delivery, valuing architectural judgment and adaptability over mastery of any single technology
  • A pragmatic, data-driven communicator — you quantify technical trade-offs, build consensus across technical and non-technical stakeholders, and make a clear business case for investment
  • Security- and compliance-minded — you treat healthcare compliance and security (HIPAA, PCI) as first-class design constraints

Nice To Haves

  • Legacy modernization at scale — experience with strangler-fig, API wrapping, and event sourcing in large enterprise codebases, and using AI to accelerate it
  • Cloud-native & AWS — adoption strategy across serverless, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code
  • DevOps & delivery — CI/CD pipeline design, delivery automation, and DevOps practices at enterprise scale
  • Domain — healthcare IT, revenue cycle management, or other regulated industries
  • AI/ML — familiarity with AI/ML integration patterns and evaluating emerging technologies for enterprise applicability
  • People & practice — mentoring senior engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement; Agile/Kanban (SAFe a plus)
  • Credentials — formal architecture training or certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, TOGAF), or a track record of published ADRs

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical architecture — define the architecture, standards, and design/security/integration guidelines (and the decisions behind them) for the platform, aligned to business goals and long-term scalability
  • Drive the modernization roadmap — lead the pragmatic, incremental evolution of established systems toward a modern stack, making decisions that balance innovation with stability and business continuity
  • Simplify and decouple — establish clear service boundaries and reduce complexity so the platform is easier, faster, and safer to change
  • Design for scale — architect for scalability and configurability so the platform grows efficiently alongside our expanding customer base
  • Strengthen observability — establish telemetry, monitoring, and alerting standards (on Datadog) so teams can see, measure, and continuously improve system health, performance, and reliability
  • Bring data to the table — establish architecture metrics and governance that give leadership clear visibility into delivery, quality, and technical health to guide investment and roadmap decisions over time
  • Partner across the organization — work with engineering leads, product owners, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions; lead system-design and security reviews
  • Elevate the team — mentor engineers, raise the bar on engineering practices and delivery, and apply modern tooling (including AI) to help teams work more effectively

Benefits

  • Paid time off (PTO) to balance a fulfilling work and personal life
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Company-paid life insurance, AD&D, and disability
  • Money for your 401(k)
  • Volunteerism support and charitable gift matching through the Zotec Effect program
