About The Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position for UND students only. The undergraduate research assistant will support an emerging research project on online communities popular among college students. Responsibilities include constructing an annotated bibliography, summarizing and collecting relevant scholarly literature, collecting publicly available social media data, and drafting a pilot interview protocol. The position is expected to last until mid-June, with potential for renewal based on funding. The RA will work independently for two hours per week and attend a one-hour in-person weekly meeting.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail
  • Interest in studying social media, youth culture, and higher education
  • Past experience engaging with academic literature
  • Past experience constructing a literature review and/or annotated bibliography
  • Must be a UND student
  • Must be eligible to work in the US and complete required employment eligibility verification form
  • Must provide a brief statement of interest (a few sentences)

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, reading, and summarizing academic literature, including theoretical work, empirical research articles, and white paper reports.
  • Assisting with summarizing and collecting relevant scholarly literature.
  • Collecting publicly available social media data.
  • Drafting a pilot interview protocol.
  • Attending hour-long, in-person weekly meetings to discuss progress and assign new weekly tasks.
