About The Position

The MSW Social Worker provides direct services to shelter clients, including psychosocial assessments, case planning, and referrals. They play a vital role in supporting clients' progress toward permanent housing and stability but typically operate under the clinical supervision of an LMSW or LCSW.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW).
• Strong interpersonal and documentation skills.
• Must be able to work evenings, at some weekends and some holidays.
• Must be able to ascend/descend stairs within the building assigned.
• Must be able to escort clients to appointments as needed.
• On call 24/7

Nice To Haves

• NYS LMSW license preferred but not always required at time of hire (may be required within a certain timeframe).
• Prior experience in social services or housing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
• Provide case management, referrals, and advocacy for services such as mental health, medical, substance use, or legal assistance.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in DHS CARES or other mandated systems.
• Collaborate with shelter staff (e.g., housing specialists, case managers) to support clients' goals.
• Attend supervision sessions with the LMSW Team Leader.
• May assist with crisis intervention under guidance of licensed staff.
• Report regularly to the Team Leader on client progress, case updates, and service needs.
