Uncommon Schools is seeking a temporary Social Worker to join their network of high-performing public charter schools. This role is dedicated to improving the lives of students in economically disadvantaged communities by providing academic and social support. The Social Worker will implement school systems and culture, manage student behavior, assess progress, and communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues. They will also engage families in their children's education, respond to concerns, and commit to professional growth. Responsibilities include participating in training, sharing school-wide duties, supervising students, attending events outside school hours, and collaborating with teachers. The role requires adherence to school policies and a belief in Uncommon's core values. Specific duties include providing crisis intervention, behavior management, one-on-one and group counseling, coordinating school meetings, identifying students for counseling, developing social-emotional curriculum, managing referral processes for social services and special education, conducting needs assessments, referring to external resources, monitoring services, and evaluating their impact. The Social Worker will also partner with the Dean of Students to design and coordinate family-engagement and education activities, including monthly family meetings, home visits, workshops, and community-building events.
