About The Position

This posting is being used to fill Social Worker positions that provide services to students at various schools within the Honolulu District as needed and assigned by the Honolulu District Administration Office. The authorized level of the position is Social Worker IV. Applications are being accepted down to the Social Worker II in the event of recruiting difficulties. Salary Range: All new external applicants will be placed on the initial step of the salary range. However, placement above the initial step of the salary range will be based on special characteristics and critical needs of the position, an applicant's exceptional qualifications, the availability of funds, and other relevant factors. Such appointments require prior approval. Hawaii State Department of Education employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations. Social Worker II, SR-18: $4,713.57 - $5,738.45 per month Social Worker III, SR-20: $5,094.56 - $6,205.68 per month Social Worker IV, SR-22: $5,513.57 - $6,710.93 per month

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work from a program of study accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, or a doctoral degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, or a comparable regional accreditation body.
  • Education background must demonstrate the ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents; read and interpret complex written material; and solve complex problems logically and systematically.
  • Social Worker II: 0 years of specialized experience with BSW, 0 years with MSW, 0 years with Ph.D. SW.
  • Social Worker III: 1 year of specialized experience with BSW, 0 years with MSW, 0 years with Ph.D. SW.
  • Social Worker IV: 2 years of specialized experience with BSW, 1 year with MSW, 0 years with Ph.D. SW.
  • Progressively responsible professional work experience which involved helping individuals and their families find satisfactory ways of identifying their problems, coping with their conditions, and functioning effectively within their environments.
  • Identification and evaluation of the client’s problems and needs; the development of a service or treatment plan, sometimes in tandem with other professionals working in an interdisciplinary team; the initiation and implementation of the service plan, either directly or through the authorization of provider/vendor services; monitoring of services being provided; and evaluation/assessment of the client’s progress, with amendments to the service/treatment plan made as appropriate.
  • Some positions require applicants to possess a current, valid Driver's License.
