About The Position

The Manchester School District is seeking a Social Worker for a 1-year position. This role is responsible for helping students resolve personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to benefit from education. The position follows the school calendar and includes additional workshop days, operating under the Teacher Association negotiated contract.

Requirements

MSW degree required
Certification by the State of New Hampshire

Responsibilities

Performs casework service with individual students to correct personal, social, or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social progress.
Performs casework service with parents to increase their understanding, constructive participation in resolving their child’s problems, and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources.
Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in modifying student behavior.
Supervises the referral of students to, and serves as liaison with, outside agencies such as the Welfare Department, Child Placement Bureau, and Juvenile Court.
Makes home visits to gather helpful information on a student’s background.
Serves as liaison between home and school when considerable follow-up is necessary, as in welfare cases, foster home children, and disadvantaged students.
Assists students directly toward adjustment to school.
Keeps sufficient records of cases for use by school staff members and outside agencies.
