This position is located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) Department of Social Work Adult Medicine, Inpatient Social Work, Bethesda, Maryland. Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), formerly known as the National Naval Medical Center and colloquially referred to as Bethesda Naval Hospital, Walter Reed, or Navy Med, is a United States military medical center located in Bethesda, Maryland. It is one of the largest and most prominent military medical centers in the nation and has provided medical care for several U.S. presidents since its opening in 1940. In 2011, the Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), named after yellow fever researcher Walter Reed, was combined with the National Naval Medical Center to form the tri-service Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Requirements
- Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
- One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations; providing individual or group treatment; developing discharge and treatment plans; and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent social work clinical licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Collect bio-psychosocial information about patients using interview, case history, observation techniques, and assessment methods.
- Provide individual and/or group psychotherapy.
- Work with the multi-disciplinary team to develop disposition planning.
- Function as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, presenting internal reports and participating in patient evaluation and treatment planning.
- Evaluate treatment effectiveness and make adjustments to patient's treatment plans as appropriate.
- Utilize electronic health record systems to document and review patient data.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
