About The Position

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is seeking a PRN Social Worker for the Emergency Department. This role involves providing direct patient care, responding to traumas, offering crisis intervention, and collaborating with physicians and police. Requirements

• Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW)
• Must be comfortable with crisis, traumas, quick interventions, and death/dying
• Employees working at an Illinois facility are required to have an Illinois state social work license or be able to take and pass the Illinois state social work licensing exam within 90 days of the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Department Coverage
• Report to all level 1 traumas
• Provide crisis, trauma, quick interventions, and death/dying support
• Address gun shot incidents and collaborate with police as needed
• Handle victim of violence concerns
• Provide interventions and resources as needed
• Collaborate with physicians to provide death notification to family members
• Assists patients and their families in their residences or outpatient/inpatient settings to adapt and plan an interdisciplinary approach to treating the patient-family system.
• Provides direct clinical services to patients and families.
• Plans and implements social work services on assigned clinical service or unit in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Collaborates with community human service agencies to meet the needs of patients, families, and the hospital.
