About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Social Worker for the Pediatric Emergency Room. This role involves providing psychosocial assessments and brief targeted interventions for social, emotional, and environmental issues that affect a client/family's ability to benefit from care. The Social Worker will collaborate with the team to achieve patient care management and system improvement goals, represent the Social Work department on committees, and provide leadership for department committees/workgroups. The position requires contributing to the plan of care with an understanding of population-specific needs and identifying patient psychosocial needs. The schedule involves three 12-hour shifts per week, with one week being Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday, and the second week being Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The hours are 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with no on-call duties. A Master's degree in Social Work is required, and candidates must be a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Tennessee. MS Level graduates can be hired with the condition of obtaining licensure within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains professional documentation which meets department and VUMC standards as it relates to compliance.
  • Provides brief targeted interventions for identified clients.
  • Completes psychosocial assessment and assists team with the development of the plan of care.
  • Provides education and or consultation to clients and families, treatment team and community.
  • Contributes to the organization by actively participating in process improvement initiatives and shared decision making.
