About The Position

The USD 480 District Parent & Family Liaison/Social Worker is a mental health professional responsible for providing direct and indirect therapeutic services to students and their families. This role addresses the impact of social forces, family changes, economic pressures, and unmet physical and emotional needs on a child's ability to learn and adjust in school.

Requirements

• Must hold a current and valid license to practice social work in the state of Kansas, issued by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.

Responsibilities

• Working with administration, parent coordinators, and teachers to ensure access to free and appropriate education and clinical social work services.
• Identifying factors in a student's life (home, school, community) that may impact their education.
• Applying knowledge and skills to enhance positive educational experiences for students and families, individually or in groups.
• Collaborating with family, school, and community agencies to maximize a student's educational program benefits.
• Consulting with building Student Intervention Teams (SIT) in the general education problem-solving process, including providing time-limited services to students on general education intervention plans.
• Special assignments may include representing the district in community service organizations, serving on district-level steering committees, and providing training in programs such as CPI.
• Performing other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Elementary.
