About The Position

Christel House Indianapolis is seeking a full-time K-8 Social Worker at Academy West. Requirements

  • Masters of Social Work.
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
  • An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Academy and Christel House International

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and assesses academic problems through analysis of factors impinging on student adjustment.
  • Counsel students and/or families regarding issues including mental health, substance abuse, physical abuse, social adjustment, truancy, behavioral issues, and school adjustment.
  • Positively promote collaborative processes in educational planning for students by encouraging parent/guardian participation in the school setting.
  • Determine and implement appropriate therapeutic strategies to effect changes in behavioral and social interactions of students and their families.
  • Collaborate with school staff in implementing strategies to promote student learning.
  • Provide crisis intervention services.
  • Provide social work case management for students and families.
  • Provide staff consultation on behavioral, emotional, and environmental issues affecting student participation in the learning process.
  • Conduct home visits related to establishing communication and positive connections between the parent/guardian and school setting around identified issues.
  • Complete risk assessments on referred students.
  • Maintain case history records and prepare reports.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of available resources for students and their families.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Other duties assigned.
