About The Position

Fairview Range is hiring a Social Worker for its Behavioral Health department in Hibbing, Minnesota. The Social Worker supports the health and wellness of patients on the inpatient Behavioral Health units and collaborates with the treatment team to address patients’ mental health and coordination needs. The role works closely with patients and families, the treatment team, and community services to address mental health and resource needs. The department provides inpatient, outpatient, and Partial Hospitalization Program services. Its two acute psychiatric inpatient units have 34 beds and serve adult patients ages 18 and older. The multidisciplinary care team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, nurses, unit assistants, social workers, and mental health practitioners. This is a full-time position working 80 hours per two weeks, with 8-hour day shifts and no weekends.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Social Work.
Licensed Social Worker upon hire.
Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross within 90 days.
BCS within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

Master of Arts or Master of Science in Social Work (MSW).
One year of mental health experience.
One year of inpatient or medical experience.

Responsibilities

Assess patients’ situations and identify their care and discharge needs.
Develop and facilitate discharge plans.
Provide generalist social work interventions to help patients and families reach their goals.
Advocate for individual patients, families, and patient groups using social work theory and practice perspectives.
Advance the field of social work and maintain professional standards and conduct.
Coordinate the civil commitment process and Jarvis petitions, and assist with long-term contract paperwork.
