About The Position

The position is for a social worker in the CWFS division for the Homemaker Services program. The Homemaker service program is a preventive program that supports families in managing daily activities with their children. The incumbent will understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with the functions of the position. Children’s Aid Mission To help children in poverty to succeed and thrive. We do this by providing comprehensive support to children and their families in targeted high-needs New York City neighborhoods. Children’s Aid annually serves children and their families at over 40 sites in New York, as well as through three national program models. Children’s Aid is concentrating its efforts on creating cradle-through-college pathways in high-need neighborhoods, with a focus on children’s health, family stability, education, and social and emotional development. Requirements

Master’s degree in social work required.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Demonstration of sensitivity to clients’ ethnicity, cultural background and family situations.
Sound casework and assessment skills.
Effective advocacy skills.
Knowledge of and ability to utilize community resources.

Nice To Haves

Two plus years of related experience, preferred.
Basic awareness of the impact of HIV/AIDS on families, preferred.
Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage maximum caseload of 25 families.
Oversee homemakers assigned to client families.
Monthly home visits to families assigned.
Ongoing assessment of service needs and appropriateness of service.
Development and review of Task Plans with each family.
Recommendations for reauthorization, including recommendations for increased/decreased hours and case closing.
Advocacy for clients in securing additional services and/or linking with other community resources.
Maintenance of case records and preparation of all required reports.
Liaison with primary case workers from other agencies and HASA staff.
Attend in-service training and staff meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
