About The Position

This position is for a Social Worker within the Paterson Public Schools. The role involves working with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community to support student well-being and educational success. The position requires adherence to district policies and state regulations regarding special education and child services. Requirements

  • Hold a valid New Jersey School Social Worker certificate.
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license with no serious violations.
  • Excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
  • Experience in teaching and working with children and adolescents.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, community social service resources, and current social work issues.
  • Understanding of current rules and regulations regarding Child Study Team and special education assessment and program requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide social work services to students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
  • Assess and understand child growth and development.
  • Connect students and families with community social service resources.
  • Address current social work issues affecting students.
  • Understand and apply rules and regulations regarding Child Study Team and special education assessment and program requirements.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Utilize electronic equipment for various tasks including word processing, data management, information retrieval, presentations, and telecommunications.
