We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Elementary and Middle School social worker to join our educational team. This role is essential in providing support to students, fostering their emotional, social, and academic growth, and promoting a positive school environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a strong understanding of developmental milestones at both the elementary and middle school levels. This is a part time position with option of working at another school to make a full-time position.

Requirements

  • Deep belief in the potential of all children and the values of Catholic education.
  • School Counselor License or Professional Counselor License.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in related field.

Responsibilities

  • The school guidance counselor will assist students in our PreK-8 school setting as an advocate for the development of the whole child.
  • They will provide direct counseling services that support the social and emotional developmental needs of the students while bringing a collaborative, solutions-oriented attitude to our team.
  • Provide direct services to students in the areas of child and adolescent development, education strategies, self-management, and social interaction skills to help students in achieving success in school.
  • Provide crisis management to students and faculty.
  • Support students in mentally processing their challenges and/or adjustments to school through goal setting and action planning.
  • Contact and stay connected to parents to assist them in the understanding of and constructive participation in their child’s progress.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive, school-wide preventative needs programming.
  • Consult with other school personnel in gathering and sharing appropriate information, as well as to establish staff roles and responsibilities regarding student needs beyond general academic education.
  • Keep appropriate records of cases for use by school staff members and non-school reporting agencies.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports on students referred for evaluation.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and principal.
  • Attend required faculty and staff meetings.
  • Cooperate with the principal and staff members in school related meetings, activities, and projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
