About The Position

Sheppard Pratt School in Rockville is a nonpublic special education day school serving students ages 5-21 (grades K-12) with a range of needs including autism, development delay, emotional disability, multiple disabilities, other health impairments, specific learning disability, and speech or language impairments. Requirements

Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C)
For social workers: must submit required documents to apply for licensure within 30 days of accepting the position.
For social workers: must provide verification of having completed 3 semester hours or State-approved CPD credits in special education.
For social workers: must possess a MSDE Certification as a School Social Worker.

Responsibilities

Conducting individual, family, and group counseling sessions to address personal and environmental obstacles hindering students’ psychosocial functioning.
Acting as a vital member of the treatment team by contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluating treatment plans.
Collaborating with school systems and supporting families in accessing relevant community resources, while coordinating with local social service agencies when necessary.
