About The Position

The Concurrent Disorders Service is seeking a permanent full-time Social Worker to provide mental health and addiction services to individuals with complex Concurrent Disorders. In collaboration with inpatient and outpatient programs, you will provide clinical assessment, individual and group treatment, and education for clients and their support systems. The successful candidate takes initiative and finds creative approaches to challenging situations. They will also have sophisticated collaboration skills in order to effectively work within numerous interdisciplinary teams. As we establish ourselves as a specialized, evidence-based service, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in service redesign and implementation.

Requirements

  • Masters of Social Work (MSW)
  • In good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
  • Knowledge of Concurrent Disorders
  • Experience with Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery
  • Knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA
  • 3 to 5 years experience providing psychiatric services in a mental health setting
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex mental illness
  • Experience navigating community reintegration of longer-stay psychiatric inpatients
  • Knowledge of the unique experiences of marginalized communities and the impact on health outcomes
  • The ability to work effectively with clients of diverse backgrounds and identities
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy
  • Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation
  • Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated application of the OCSWSSW Code of Ethics
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position

Nice To Haves

  • Post graduate Mental Health and Addictions certificate
  • Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
  • Ability to work variable hours may be required due to patient demand

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assessment, individual and group treatment, and education for clients and their support systems.
