About The Position

This position is located at Madigan Army Medical Center, Department of Mental Health in Tacoma, Washington. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Advance in Hire may be authorized. This is available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Duties include applying biopsychosocial evaluations to propose mental health interventions, providing evidence-based treatment (behavioral, cognitive, and motivational approaches), giving feedback to primary care providers and staff on patient status and team-based care recommendations, implementing psychoeducational classes for high-frequency diagnoses in primary care, and documenting information in the electronic health record.

Requirements

  • US Citizens
  • Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • One year of specialized experience which includes: conducting mental health assessments; providing individual and group treatment; and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
  • Basic Life Support training certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network within 30 days of employment.
  • Mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement.
  • Favorable result from a Criminal History Background Check (CHBC).
  • At least one contact per week or at least four (4) contacts per month with children under the age of 18.
  • Completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • Screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk (Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, etc.).
  • Ability to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • 1 year probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Apply biopsychosocial evaluations to propose mental health interventions.
  • Provide evidence-based treatment, including behavioral, cognitive, and motivational approaches.
  • Provide primary care providers and staff regular and concise feedback on the status of referred patients, to include recommendations for team-based care.
  • Implement psychoeducational classes to target high frequency diagnoses found in the primary care clinic.
  • Document information in the electronic health record during patient encounters.
