About The Position

The Social Worker, LCSW works with clients to address issues involving mental and emotional health. The position provides emotional support, mental health evaluations and therapy, and case management services. The role is with the Social Services Department at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center/UHealth.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Social Work.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Valid State of Florida licensed clinical social worker.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
• Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a team environment.
• Proficiency with office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for clients and help them gain access to resources while addressing personal issues.
• Counsel patients and provide crisis intervention, including assessment and treatment of behavioral problems.
• Coach patients on managing ongoing health conditions.
• Provide therapy to help patients make positive behavior changes.
• Assist patients and their families through individual, group, and education conferences to help them understand, accept, and follow treatment recommendations.
• Refer patients and their families to specialized treatment programs based on their needs, and monitor and evaluate their progress.
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate care where needed.
• Maintain current and appropriate documentation in patient charts.
• Act as a mandated reporter in suspected child abuse cases.
• Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
