About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic individual with strong clinical, collaborative, and consultation skills to join our oncology team. This outpatient role will provide clinical social work services to patients with brain tumors as part of the Neuro-Oncology Team at Massachusetts General Hospital and MGB Cancer Institute. The ideal candidate will be proficient in conducting psychosocial assessments and experienced in short-term counseling, group facilitation, crisis intervention, and interprofessional collaboration. They will also have experience working with patients and families presenting with a wide range of mental health and psychosocial concerns including anxiety and depression, adjustment and coping, loss and bereavement, complex family dynamics, substance use disorder and trauma. The role includes individual counseling, some couples and family support work, facilitation of support groups, and resource-based referrals. Excellent clinical, communication, and documentation skills are a necessity.

Requirements

  • Master's of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program required.
  • Current Massachusetts Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required for Clinical Social Worker I.
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in a medical setting required for Clinical Social Worker I.
  • Current Massachusetts Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) required for Clinical Social Worker II.
  • 2-3 years of clinical experience in a medical setting required for Clinical Social Worker II.
  • Proficient clinical judgment and application of professional values and ethics.
  • Integration of prior clinical experience into current practice.
  • Proficiency to formulate assessment of risks, crisis intervention, psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and the documentation of both in a timely manner.
  • Sound clinical judgment and innovation in advocating for clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Proficient working knowledge of internal and external resources and refers appropriately.
  • Ability to advocate, coordinate, and continuously communicate with treatment plans with patients, family and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities
