About The Position

The Social Worker III will carry a select and difficult case load involving the determination of need for basic social services functions for applicants or clients; to perform social studies and assignments involving individualized treatment and specialized application of casework methods and skills; and to provide comprehensive casework services of a tangible nature. The Social Worker III classification carries a difficult case load and is the second journey level in the Social Worker series. Incumbents are normally assigned a selected case load of the more difficult cases and when needed are given supervisory consultation in development of treatment plans. They may also be assigned to a specialized function requiring a high degree of perception such as a special problem case load or they are assigned to a specific geographic or functional area such as Court Investigations, Family Maintenance/Reunification, Emergency Response, Child/Adult Protection, Foster Care. Incumbents are expected to work independently. Social Worker II receives the more difficult assignments requiring greater skill and depth of job knowledge in assessing problem situations and formulating plans for services. Incumbents normally work with a high degree of independence of action in administering services and in making use of agency or community resources. This position is bilingual Spanish and requires the ability to speak, read and write Spanish. This recruitment is being conducted to fill one (1) full-time vacancy in the Health and Human Services Agency with Napa County. The list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies up to one year. Requirements

One (1) year of experience comparable to a Social Worker II in a public social services agency.
Two (2) years of social work casework experience in a public or private social services agency.
Equivalent to graduation from a four (4) year college including 30 semester units in social welfare, social/human services, sociology, or other behavioral science.
Ability to speak, read and write Spanish.
Maintain a valid California Driver's License while employed.
Maintain any license, certification, or registration required for this position (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County.
