About The Position

As a member of the Behavioral Health Division, this position functions as a part of a dedicated clinical team within the St. Mary's County Health Department's Health Hub providing Crisis Walk-In Behavioral Health Services to community members. These services include but are not limited to psychosocial assessment (including substance use disorder screening and assessment), crisis intervention, safety and risk assessment, behavioral health treatment planning, coordination of care, continuing care planning, brief solution-focused therapy, and individual/family/group therapy. This position works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team which includes clinical social workers, peer recovery specialists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and various supporting staff. This position also may collaborate and co-manage client care with law enforcement, EMS, external providers, and community based facilities. Additionally, this position is responsible for delivering services in accordance with accrediting agency requirements and local, state, and federal laws.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed as a Graduate Social Worker (on or by June 30, 2018), Master Social Worker (on or after July 1, 2018) or Certified Social Worker by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service.
  • Applicants who do not have a license may also apply pending receipt of the required license.
  • Employees assigned duties requiring the operation of an automobile will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

  • Behavioral-Health crisis experience: Experience providing support, assessment, or intervention to individuals experiencing behavioral health or substance-related crises in clinical or community settings.
  • Fast-paced multidisciplinary teamwork: Experience working in a fast-paced environment requiring rapid decision-making, coordination, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams such as clinicians, peer specialists, law enforcement, or emergency responders.

Responsibilities
