Requirements

Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
One year of experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting preferred.
Must hold one of the following Maryland licenses, at minimum graduate-level licensure: LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker), LCSW (Licensed Certified Social Worker), LGPC (Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor), LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor).
Strong knowledge of counseling principles, therapeutic techniques, and professional standards of practice.
Ability to complete psychosocial assessments and develop effective treatment plans.
Understanding of community organizations, social services, and behavioral health resources.
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
Ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
Strong critical thinking, documentation, and organizational skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and mental health assessments.
Provide individual counseling, crisis intervention, and emotional support to patients and families.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
Assist patients in coping with illness, hospitalization, life changes, and recovery.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to support patient care goals.
Identify community resources and coordinate referrals to appropriate social service agencies.
Advocate for patients and families while promoting positive outcomes and continuity of care.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
